..All bombs were dropped in the assigned target areas for good coverage. No results were observed because of the jungle covering. All planes made two strafing runs of their respective targets after bombing.

.....All planes took off without incident and rendezvoused with the SBDs over Cape St. George at 10,000' at 0925. Two divisions of Corsairs took position as low cover at 600' above the SBDs with the third division of 2 planes acting as medium cover 2,600' above the bombers.

.....The entire flight then took a direct course to Wide Bay, then across the neck to Open Bay to the target areas. The fighters maintained a constant protective weave over the bombers throughout the flight.

.....While the bombers were making their runs the fighters orbited over the target area at 13,000'. As soon as the bombers finished the fighters made their bombing runs from south to north retiring out over the water. After the strafing runs, which followed the bombing runs, the planes all rallied at 4,000' five miles off coast.

.....The course home was up the west coast of New Britain, around Cape Lambert, over the Duke of York Island, down St. Georges Channel, around Cape St. George, then direct to base.

A running join-up with the bombers could not be made because of the time consumed in the strafing runs.
