this three-day period a total of 36 sorties
were flown over the Rabaul area. A total
of 12 1/2 tons of bombs were dropped and
18,300 rounds of 50 caliber ammunition
was expended with the following observed
results:

total of 8 large trucks. 3 of which
were heavily loaded, 8 medium sized
trucks, one black sedan, and one small
auto were strafed and believed holed.

Jap, driver of a truck, believe killed.

Thoroughly
strafed group of 25 - 30 Japs in a field.
Undeterminable number killed.

addition to the above definitely observed results,
It can safely be said that many buildings and
huts have been damaged or destroyed as a result
of considerable strafing and many bomb hits
in areas of clusters and concentrations.
.....Two
4-plane patrols were called back to base before
reaching the target area because of bad weather.
One plane returned to base before reaching his
target area because of a hydraulic leak. Two
other planes returned early account of engine
trouble, one plane escorting.
