(o) RESULTS: FOR SHIP TARGETS DRAW DIAGRAM, TOP OR SIDE VIEW OR BOTH AS APPOPRIATE, SHOWING TYPE AND LOCATION OF HITS FOR ALL TARGETS. GIVE LOCATION AND EFFECT OF HITS WITH DIAGRAMS OR CHARTS WHERE DESIRABLE. DESCRIBE TARGETS FULLY IN (a) AND IN REPORTING DAMAGE OR DESTRUCTION, IDENTIFY BY NUMBERS AT LEFT. USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS IF NECESSARY.

.....The PBJs led the attack but did not hit the assigned target; they bombed the Bopire Pltn. area rather than the Mageh Pltn, area.

.....One division of Corsairs followed them into Bopire, though there wasn't any suitable targets there, while the other division of Corsairs hit the assigned target area. Actually neither area contained suitable bombing targets; the prime purpose of the strike being practice in escorting and coordination.

....The fighters rendezvoused with the 4 PBJs over the base. One division assumed position at 500' above the bombers, and the other division at 2500'. The PBJs gained an altitude of 7,000' enroute.

.....The route was direct to East Cape and thence North inland over New Ireland to the target area. One division of fighters broke away from the formation at Borpop and circled the target from the seaward side thereby diverting the enemy from the PBJs who made a low level attack from inland. The other division of fighters followed the PBJs in.

.....The original plan called for the diversionary division of fighters to follow in after the covering fighters had made their bombing runs, but since they noticed that the wrong target had been hit they requested and ware granted permission to hit Mageh Pltn.

.....The covering division returned and made one thorough strafing run over the area while the other division returned to the Mageh area and made two thorough strafing runs.
The fighters were unable to offset a running rendezvous with the bombers so proceeded direct to base.
