These
two flights of F4Us observed 8 to 10 bomb hits
on the west side of Dolo Cove and some bombs hit
in the water near shore line. The SBDs thoroughly
strafed the cove also. |

OF CONTACT: SBDs bombed at approximately 1,000 feet,
and they strafed at the same time.. |

NARRITIVE
ACCOUNT:
.....This
flight of 8 F4Us took off at 1221 to provide high
cover foe SBDs and B-25s to bomb Dolo Cove. They flew
directly to target. They did not see any B-25s, but
they did see about 18 SBDs and provided high cover
for them as they bombed and strafed Dolo Cove.
REMARKS:
.....Major
Carnagy observed one white smoke flash from the bombs
but no fires. They report seeing a lot of huts in
the next cove west of Dolo Cove. These huts were observed
in the next cove west from the cove the SBDs were
bombing. The huts appeared to them to be in Munda
Cove.
