NARRITIVE
OF ACCOUNT:
.....The
flight was looking for Jap barges reported some place
on western coast of KOLOMBANGARA. One was located
about 30 feet in length In Kukundu Bay. It was loaded
with boxes. It was set afire by strafing and thoroughly
destroyed.
REMARKS:
.....A
barge was soon close to shore in Merenu Cove, but
they did not strafe it, as It was too close to shore
for safe strafing without hitting shore. A barge,
probably another derelict, was observed near Nirashirapa
I., between there and Sandfly Harbor on same coast
of KOLOMBANGARA, and several shots wore placed in
this barge. It was empty, and appeared to be in a
sinking condition when they saw it, and it was on
a reef.
